Diamond Exploration
During the 2005 and 2006 field programs, Starfield's exploration staff collected 1100 widely spaced till samples from various areas of Starfield Resources' claims. The samples remained in secure storage at the project until, as part of the 2008 exploration program, they were sieved and shipped for processing and mineralogical study.
Within the first 12% of samples studied, two significant results were obtained. Sample TDS5-125 contained a significant number of indicator garnet grains, and sample TDS5-126 contained a small diamond consistent with the screen size. Both samples were located within close proximity to one of ten areas that were previously identified by geophysics as highly prospective for diamonds.

The primary focus of the 2009 Exploration Program is to further evaluate the diamond, gold and massive sulphide potential of Starfield’s large land holding. The proposed program consists of:
- flying a detailed aeromagnetic and DIGHEM survey
- conducting a small diamond drilling program to test possible kimberlite, gold and massive sulphide targets identified by either the airborne geophysics or ground reconnaissance and till sample results.
DIGHEM Survey An airborne survey was flown in April 2009, and consisted of detailed aeromagnetics and DIGHEM (a frequency domain EM). DIGHEM data is more useful in identifying kimberlites and planar strictures, like quartz veins, than the existing VTEM data.

As shown below, the survey was focused on the Y Lake trend, including the area in which the recent microdiamond was found, two other highly prospective kimberlite targets located respectively southwest and northeast of the Y Lake trend, and the area surrounding another three high prospective kimberlite targets located immediately north of the East Zone.
Electromagnetic Anomaly maps are provided below for sections 1, 2 and 3 of the surveyed area:
- Yathkyed Lake Area Section1 Electromagnetic Anomalies Map showing targets M1 and M2 (7.1 Mb) - Yathkyed Lake Area Section 2 Electromagnetic Anomalies Map showing targets M3, M4 and M5 (7.3 Mb) - Yathkyed Lake Area Section 3 Electromagnetic Anomalies Map showing targets M6 to M12 (3.5 Mb)
Drilling The 2009 drilling program has two objectives. The first is to undertake a preliminary drilling program on possible kimberlite targets identified by the 2009 airborne geophysics program and/or the results of the previous till sampling. The second objective is the continued evaluation of the Y Lake trend for gold and massive sulphide mineralization. This drilling will be directed at the highest potential parts of this trend based on existing geochemical results and information obtained from the new airborne geophysical data.
